Enjoy a Walk Alone in Japanese Castles 🏯

♥Posted by Misato

There are many castles in Japan that are perfect for walking, and the area around them has become a tourist attraction.

You can walk with someone, but if you’re alone, you can take a walk at your own pace, overlooking historic buildings and gardens. Also, it is the best part of traveling alone to enjoy a side trip freely.

You might be able to find your own photo spot while taking a walk.

There are many gourmet spots and souvenir shops around the castle, so you can enjoy it.

♪(´▽`)

This time, I will introduce some Japanese castles where you can enjoy walking.

The once important places are still often located in the center of the city and are easily accessible. Also, there are walking trails in the area, so you won’t get lost.

Matsumoto Castle

Matsumoto Castle, a national treasure in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, has a stately appearance that evokes a sense of history.

The collaboration with the Northern Japanese Alps creates a superb view unique to this place.

The castle tower is said to have been built between 1593 and 1594 and is the oldest of the existing five-tiered, six-story castle towers in Japan.

If you walk while looking at the magnificent figure, you will feel like you have made a time trip.

If you look at the castle closely, you will be drawn into the contrast of black and white. The brightly colored bridge (Uzumi no Hashi) is also beautiful.(≧∇≦)

There are cute cafes and variety stores around the castle, so it’s fun to visit them.

Soba Club Sasaki

This is a famous restaurant that has passed the strict screening for soba (buckwheat noodles). Soba made with Nagano’s buckwheat flour by hand has a taste that even connoisseurs can enjoy.

It is common to taste it with salt first, and then eat it with dipping sauce. The throat street of the firm thin noodles is wonderful.♪

Osaka Castle

Osaka Castle is a symbol of Osaka and is very popular among foreign tourists. The surrounding area is a wide running course, but of course I recommend it for walking.

You can refresh your body and mind by walking around the vast site with a view of the castle tower.

Please feel the flow of relaxing time surrounded by seasonal flowers and greenery. There are many cafes along the Okawa River on the way, so it’s perfect for a break.

The Chisen Kaiyu style Japanese garden in the center of the castle is a famous photo spot. In early summer, azaleas are in full bloom, creating a glamorous atmosphere.

There are many other beautiful gardens in the castle, such as Shuseki Garden (Karesansui dry rock garden)  and Nishinomaru Garden with dazzling greenery.

Goryokaku

Goryokaku in Hakodate, Hokkaido is also recommended for walking alone.

The star-shaped castle that adopts the French construction method looks cute. It is said that this shape is to prevent a blind spot from being created when an enemy invades.☆

It takes about 15 minutes on foot from Goryokaku Park. There is a walking course around there, so let’s walk while enjoying the unique terrain.

There is a downtown nearby, so you can enjoy lunch and dinner after walking.

*★,°*:.☆

After circling around, why don’t you see the star-shaped whole image from the observation deck of Goryokaku Tower?

By the way, the Hakodate Magistrate’s office in the center of the star is said to be a power spot to ward off evil spirits. Stop by if you’re interested.
